Polarization Generator PSG-100

For PDL Measurements, Self-laching

PSG-100 is a high-speed polarization state generator, which transforms linearly polarized light into any one of six non-degenerated polarization states on Poincare sphere. These states are nominal Linear 0°, Linear 90°, linear ±45°, right-handed circular (RHC) and left-handed circular (LHC) respectively.  The module is equipped with a microcontroller and electrical driver, allowing for switching of output polarization states in just 40 microseconds. This can be triggered by external TTL digital rising or falling edge, or remote-control commands through USB or UART.  Once the polarization state is switched, not current is required to maintain the chosen polarization state.

It is important to note that the output polarization states of the PSG-100 are influenced by wavelength and temperature, potentially leading to measurement errors without proper correction. To address this, the PSG-100 stores wavelength and temperature calibration data in the memory on the driver board. Users can conveniently access these calibration data through USB or RS232. For ease of use, the PSG-100 allows users to directly retrieve the calibration matrix, eliminating the need to calculate these matrices independently for Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL) measurements.
